If you missed the last round of his so-called town halls, please note that Rep. Grothman is scheduled for another meeting this Friday, Nov. 1, in Fond du Lac, at the Fond du Lac City Hall, at 10:30 a.m.
In the past, Grothman’s town hall meetings have followed the same script: He spends about 20 minutes providing his report on what is happening in Congress, followed by his responses to previously submitted questions. Note that attendees are asked to fill out forms with their questions when they register at the meeting. Grothman does not take questions from the audience. The forms do not ask political party affiliation, but they do ask for names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. The form also asks if you would like to sign up for the congressman’s newsletter.
At one of his last town halls, in Waupun, there were a number of Democrats in attendance from both the Green Lake County Dems & Friends and the Fond du Lac County Democratic Party. Questions they submitted were among those answered by Grothman. They were not screened out in advance.
At the Waupun town hall, Grothman’s answers to a number of questions did not sit well with some attendees and he was challenged by both those asking the questions and by those who felt his answers were misleading or inaccurate.
