Joni Anderson

Joni Anderson, a Democrat seeking to unseat incumbent Republican State Senator Luther Olsen (R-Ripon), is one of the two featured speakers this Saturday at the Green Lake Co. Dems & Friends meeting at 10 a.m. at the Caestecker Public Library. The meeting is open to the public.

Joining Anderson is Circuit Court Judge Jill Karofsky who is running for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Anderson is currently vice chair of the Adams County Democrats. She is running on a platform that includes a number of issues that reflect her involvement in both the Democratic Party and her status as a union worker.

In a statement she provided, she listed “personal leave, bereavement and fully paid family leave, higher wages, Medicaid expansion, Medicare for all, and nonpartisan redistricting” as key platform issues.

Anderson is a machine operator at Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies in Necedah, WI. She is a charter member of UE Local 1106, Necedah, and has served on its executive board and as a steward. In addition, she is a past president and secretary of the local. The United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America, is an independent democratic rank-and-file labor union representing workers in both the private and public sectors across the United States.

Anderson also is a seven-time voting delegate to the UE National Convention. Currently, she serves as a vice president on its Safety Committee. In addition, she is an elected member of the UE Western Regional Council (Ohio-California).

In Wisconsin, she is a member of the OWR state board. View her Facebook page.

Anderson is one of two Democrats running against Olsen; the other is Nate Zimdars.
