Oops, said Mike, Did I really admit this?

One of President’s “only the best” appointments, former Congressman Mike Mulvaney ®, gave inadvertent support to a recent Gallup Poll that revealed only 18% of those polled felt Congress was doing a good job. “We had a hierarchy in my office in Congress,” said Mulvaney, who was a leading conservative in the House until President Trump tapped him to be the White House budget director, a job he still holds. “If you were a lobbyist who never gave us money, I didn’t talk to you. If you were a lobbyist who gave us money, I might talk to you.” From Washington Post, April 25, 2018. Online. Submitted by Malcolm McIntyre.

Where is Thomas Jefferson when we need him?

Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Mike McCabe is no fan of Citizens United and the US Supreme Court decision that says Corporations are people and thus have a free to free speech. In his book, on page 99, McCabe’s quotes Thomas Jefferson.

I hope we shall … crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our county.”  Marx? Lenin? Also not Mao or Castro. Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to George Logan, Nov. 12, 1816. As referenced in “Blue Jeans in High Places;: The Coming Makeover of American Politics,” by Mike McCabe.Published Little Creek Press, 2015.
