Jessica King, participated in a recent League of Women Voters of the Ripon Area candidate forum

With over 75% of the vote, former Wisconsin State Senator Jessica King easily topped a three-person field Tuesday to win the 6th Congressional District Democratic Party partisan primary.

King rolled up 38,039 votes in the 11 counties that are included in the district. First-time candidate Michael Beardsley finished second with 7,885 and Matt Boor came in third at 4,575.

With the win, King, an attorney, earns the right to take on incumbent Republican Congressman Glenn Grothman in November.

King won all 11 counties, with her strongest performance coming in Winnebago County, her home county, where she racked up 10,825 votes.

By itself that total would have earned her the win, even if she had not added votes from the 10 other counties in the district.
